October is almost over but hey! It's never too late to show your support for breast cancer awareness :):)
Here in Central Florida there is a local radio station that does an AMAZING job getting people in the know about breast cancer. Over the past few years they have done something called PinkTober where they 'turn the city pink'. This is where for one or two specified days of October the radio station encourages EVERYONE to wear pink. Offices, schools, etc. It has become quite popular in Orlando. So, this year in honor of breast cancer awareness, I dutifully wore my pink scrubs to work last Friday, October 19th and I just had to do a special mani for the occasion!
I used Orly Charged Up as my base. Charged Up is a grape colored purple, it's a cross between a jelly and creme finish and took me two coats for opacity.
But the real standout in this mani was the glitter top coat, Orly Be Brave. Be Brave is originally part of Orly's Flash Glam FX collection, but for October it was put in a special collection for Breast Cancer Awareness called Pretty in Pink
Be Brave is made up of pink holo bar glitter in a clear base. The holo glitter is SO sparkly!
I had looked at this polish in the store a million times and it was one of those I would always pick up then put down. At the beginning of October I finally caved in and bought it. I'm glad I did, I was really suprised how much I loved this on the nail.
Above you can see just how much that pink bar glitter shines!
I saw that the holo flashes blue, green, purple and maybe a red/pink...
pretty much a rainbow of colors.

I found that the glitter liked to drag on the nail
so it's best applied by dabbing the glitter where you want it.

I placed them on by applying top coat to my nail then arranging the rhinestones on my nail with a dotting tool while the top coat was still sticky.
This was a really fun manicure and it helped remind me and anyone who saw it of a good cause. Breast cancer is a serious issue as is any form of cancer or illness. I'm sure that the cause is very near-and-dear to some of your hearts. And I think it's amazing what people and businesses like Orly and our local radio station: Johnny's House on XL are doing to raise awareness :):)
I picked up my bottle of Be Brave at Ulta but you can find Orly products at Sally Beauty and Orlybeauty.com. This is part of the Flash Glam FX collection so you should still be able to find it after October.
So have you rocked any breast cancer awareness manicures this month?
