I want to show you guys some polishes released earlier this year. I thought this would be the perfect time to do some nail art with the Orly Dark Shadows collection.
Below is a basic blood drip manicure that's been showing up on a lot of blogs lately and popping up all over Pinterest.
My base is Orly Decades of Dysfunction. (I think this was a re promote of Orly Pure Porcelain) This is described as a pale pink cream but I think it looks a little more flesh toned, like vampire's skin!
Formula was nice. Streaky at first but when it dried everything evened out.
Photos show two coats.
For the 'blood' I used Orly Ignite from their Fall 2012 collection. Ignite is a darker red jelly. I did a quick swipe of Ignite over the tips of my nails then dotted three drops on each of my nails and connected them to the polish at the bottom. Pretty simple right?
This next mani uses Orly Mysterious Curse (a re promote of Orly Royal Velvet) and China Glaze Make a Spectacle from the 2012 Halloween Collection; Wicked. This didn't turn out very Halloween-like but it was still cool enough that I wanted to show you anyways.
Here's my base of Orly Mysterious Curse from their Dark Shadows Collection
Mysterious Curse is a Deep Purple with a blue duochrome/shimmer to it.
It's actually quite pretty on the nail.
This is using two coats. It was a little sheer and streaky and I noticed a third coat made it drag a little, so I stuck to just two and that gave it a pretty opaque finish.
I layered Mysterious Curse with China Glaze Make a Spectacle:
This is a very pretty and very shimmery top coat made up of flat round opalescent/iridescent glitter that shines blue/green, orange and pink and micro glitter that flash the same colors.
Here's what it looks like layered:
Looks more galaxy than Halloween right?
Last I have a basic swatch, no nail art or layering here, but I couldn't mention Orly's Dark Shadows collection without showing you guys:
Grave Mistake.
Grave Mistake is a blood red cream that is almost fully
opaque in one coat, I have two on in the photos.
There is one more polish from the Dark Shadows collection that I did not swatch today, Buried Alive is a dark brown with some shimmer to it. If you want a swatch on the blog let me know in the comments and I'll be happy to do it!
I'm not sure if the Dark Shadows collection is still in stores, last I saw they were on clearance at Sally Beauty.
